30-day / $1K Web Site Challenge – Failed

I can’t give myself any more extensions and still feel good about this challenge. The reality is that I’ve just simply been travelling too much recently (every week for the past 7 weeks) and trying to finish off strong here at Penton to give my own site much attention. I’ve had maybe 4-5 hours total to spend on my own site since I began this challenge. I guess it’s kind of like a mechanic who spends so much time working on other people’s cars that his own car gets neglected.

I’m removing the challenge countdown to take the pressure off, but I’m not giving up. This is my last week at Penton and after that I will finally have some time to focus on the site. I know the strategies and technologies I will be using, but now I’ll have time to get the right developers involved and give them proper direction. So, while the challenge may have failed technically, I still believe I’ll be able to get the site up and running with 20 business days focus and for less than $1000.

Stay tuned!

I also like the saying “A great oak is only a little nut that held its ground.” I intend to hold my ground … it just may take a bit longer because life tends to get in the way of plans. ;-)
